Biography
John has taught at stage combat workshops around the United States and is an Assistant Professor of Acting and Directing at Illinois State University. His Joseph Jefferson Award-Winning choreography has been seen throughout Chicago and Off-Broadway. He has had the pleasure of choreographing prominent actors such as Tony Yazbeck (Tony-Award winning actor, ON THE TOWN), Christy Altomare (Broadway’s ANASTASIA), Ken Clark (Broadway’s THE GREAT COMET), Steve Blanchard (Broadway’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST), Jessie Fisher (Broadway’s ONCE and HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD), Nisi Sturgis (HBO's BOARDWALK EMPIRE), Caroline Neff (NBC’s CHICAGO P.D. and Steppenwolf ensemble member), Michael Patrick Thornton (Broadway's A DOLL'S HOUSE and MACBETH, ABC’s PRIVATE PRACTICE), Kamal Angelo Bolden (NBC’s CHICAGO FIRE and Fox’s ROSEWOOD), Robert Belushi (HBO’s BALLERS and ABC’s THE OFF SEASON), and Kurt Naebig (PUBLIC ENEMIES and ROAD TO PERDITION).
John is an MFA graduate of the Professional Director Training Program at Illinois State University, where he also received his Bachelor’s degree in Acting. He is a Fight Director and Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors.
He has taught classes at colleges and universities such as Illinois State University, Ball State University, Roosevelt University, DePaul University, Northwestern University, Eureka College, Lincoln College, College of DuPage, and Elgin Community College.
